Junko Nishida

Junko Nishida is a news reporter for the Weekly Mahjong Today magazine. She regularly reports on high school mahjong tournaments on the prefectural and national levels. One of her subjects of interests is Kiyosumi High School's Nodoka Haramura, whom she believes has the makings of a genius in the game. Junko occasionally puts a twist into her stories to make them appear more sensational to the readers. In the first anime series, she questions Shiraitodai High School's Teru Miyanaga on her relationship to Kiyosumi's Saki Miyanaga. She regularly travels with her photographer partner Daisuke Yamaguchi.
