Yiruki Mercodine, someone with the Savant Syndrome (on the autism spectrum), became friends with Shirone when they were in Class 5 at the Alpheas Magic Academy. Shirone, Yiruki, and Neid Weist/Nade West are members of, and became close friends through being part of the Paranormal and Psychic Science Research Group.
