Yuichi Taira

Yuichi Taira is a 6th grade student. He is very popular, gets the best grades, and is the star baseball player, giving him the nickname "Ichi" (meaning "number one"). But because of the similar golden inline skates he and Shounen Bat/Lil' Slugger wear, as well as his prowess in baseball, rumors that Yuichi is the culprit begin to circulate around his school and the students begin to avoid Yuichi. Unable to accept the sudden drop in popularity, Yuichi blames Shogo Ushiyama, the new transfer student whose grades rivals Yuichi's, to be the one spreading rumors. His hatred of Shogo, as well as his unfueled superiority complex, begins to drive Yuichi mad.
