Carl Meiser

The student director of hall B, where Serge and Gilbert's room is, and Serge's good friend. An intelligent, levelheaded, and religious student who is nonetheless attracted somewhat to Gilbert. He stays in a boarding house in the city and goes every day to the academy from there. He liked Serge when he first came to the school and thought that he might be able to help fix Gilbert's behaviour so he asked François Watts, the dormitory dean, to put them in the same room.
